Better yet........send the tone ring and rim to him and have him fit it correctly. Or send it to Arthur Hatfield.......he also knows how to fit one of Jim's rings properly.

Thank you for the advice. The suggestion of sending of sending it for proper fitting sounds good, plus it would be a good lesson in patience.:0) Thanks again.

I recently cut one of my rims for a burlile ring for a hangout member not long ago. I fit it just like arthur hatfield had it fitted. Mike was very satisfied with it.

Rims cut for modern Gibson rings will probably need to ne turned down to fit a Burlile. The Burlile is cut to prewar dimensions, which are slightly smaller diameter.

jmori, as Jim will tell you, a banjo rim and a banjo tone-ring are two very different entities. Now, some times, they just fall into place and each fits the other perfectly. Most of the time, however, the fit will be close, but no cigar. Either the rim or the tone-ring has to be trimmed for there to be the "ideal" fit. Now, as far as your skirt dimension, yes, Jim's ring will probably fit there. But as for the diameter...you'll need to check with him. He's got a HO profile, so message him there with your question.
