Hi Tom

I have a couple of questions which I hope you can help me with.

I've noticed when you submit TAB to the HO you include a PDF version of the TAB. How do you create the PDF file is there a feature within TablEdit to export the TAB into a wordprocessor ?

There are times when I would like to display a few measures of TAB on the HO either to ask a question or to answer a question. Is there an easy way to do this using TabEdit or TefView.

At present I laboriously type out the measures in ASCII characters and then add the notes then fiddle around until everything lines up neatly, I then copy this from my text editor and paste it onto the HO editor then fiddle a little more till I get it looking the way I want it. It's all so time consuming and hardly worth all the time and effort

Do you know of a simpler/quicker way of doing this using TablEdit or TefView. I have tried copy & paste but that doesn't work.

I know I'm not Tom, but this question has been asked quite a few times. And I have answered it before.

All you need is any of the free, or paid, pdf writers out there. Search "free pdf writer" and take your choice. For example

cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp

Run the software and it puts the PDF Writer as a choice of printer for when you come to print your file. So instead of printing to your usual printer, you print to the PDF writer

I hope that helps.

Hi Andy

Thanks

I appreciate your help.. It's not quite what I was asking. I use Open Office (It's Free and Open Source) which can create PDF documents.

My query is really about exporting Tabulator from TablEdit into a document processor. Since Tom regularly posts TAB in PDF format. I got to wondering how he did it and I thought he might be best placed to answer my query but I am happy to hear from anyone who knows a simple way to do this.

Opp/s I just reread your post, I followed the link and didn't read the bit about printing to file. How do you config TablEdit to do this?

Cute PDF, or other PDF writer, is seen by TablEdit as a printer. You just choose it and tell it where to store the file on your hard drive.

You know -- File/Print then pick the printer.  I use free Primo PDF and it's great.  Once installed, it becomes a choice in printers as was pointed out.  If you select Primo PDF, then the program window pops up and you just click on the "Create PDF" button.  You then are give the opportunity to name the file and also steer it to a certain location.

If you're on a Mac, creating PDF's and selected screen captures are built into the operating system. Windows 7 has some similar functionality as well though I think you still need a plugin for creating PDF's.

These tools make it real easy to post licks and such like this into the forums:

I was actually wondering about that myself, Sean...

How to post just a portion of a tab... for a lick instead of a song...

I learn something new everyday...

Or darned near...

Tom,

As Sean pointed out you just need to download Cute PDF program and there are several others available. Do a print screen of the portion of the tab you want and voila you're there...Jack

A little known feature of TablEdit is that from the Print Preview, you can select any part of a tab and export (just your selection) to various image formats (.gif, .jpg, .wmf, .png, .tif, .bmp, etc.)

To insert an image into a post, as seanray did above, you first have to upload the image to the photos section of your BHO homepage.

Howdy Thomas,

Yer set. This has been posted a few times by me and others in the last year but I think the posts get pushed to the bottom and that's why you don't see them...As Mick suggests, Tabledit is the practical program to use for what you and I do...Jack
