Neck is back with Mark. Looking to see the finished banjo soon!

Looking really good. I like the star at the 5th fret, kind of a Great Lakes trademark.
The inlay work that Great Lakes did -- and apparently still does -- was superb.

Hi Alex,
It still amazes me that Mark still has GLBC NOS materials to work with. I'm very fortunate! I can almost hear that Great Lakes sound in anticipation. :)

The banjo is really sweet! It is so nice to have the banjo I wanted all those years ago. I'll get some detailed pictures ASAP. Thanks again to Mark Zimmerman for all the work on the banjo and my friend Randy Costew who took care of the finish issues in his shop. I have some really kind and dear friends who went the extra mile to get this done and done right.
Now they both told me to get the polish out and clean up the plated parts! ![]()

Great pictures...and,about inlay work in general;for guitar fretboards,I go for
simple dots 10 times out of 10,but BANJOS are just something else...an
elaborately inlaid banjo fretboard even looks more PLAYABLE...Yeah,fine
banjo...a real keeper...McUtsi

I'm with you on the simple inlay for the guitar but I too like a bit of flash on the banjo. :)

Got a chance to get together with friends, Randy Costew, Mark Zimmerman and Alex Zakem for lunch and a few Great Lakes banjos. Three in the same room is pretty special.
