I recently picked up a 1995 Rich & Taylor JD Crowe model with the 10 hole Kulesh tone ring on Craigs list. I had it set up by my instructor, Wil Huckabay, of La Porte, Texas. He changed out the existing tailpiece with a double hump Prucha, and added a Purcell submerged wood bridge. I could not be any happier! This banjo plays like a dream, and has volume out the wahzoo!! I feel like there is no need to keep looking! (although I still do!!) I should add that I have been playing off and on for 25+ years, although I never really stuck with it until I found Wil as an instructor. I have owned a Gibson RB3 (circa 1995, possibly RB 250?, I can't remember!) and a Stelling Whitestar, around a 1985 model I believe, but this R&T JD Crowe model has them all beat!
