Would any of you know offhand if it's possible to order an Enoch Tradesman or Dobson model with their standard 25.5" scale but with a slightly wider neck width? I'm looking for a neck width along the lines of a Ramsey Chanterelle or an Ome Old Time series model.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

Another way to get there might be to look for a Student model from Mike Ramsey (or order one). The Student has the thin rim like the Tradesman albeit with a rolled brass ring and a 25.5-ish scale Ramsey neck. (I think the Enoch Dobson comes with a thicker rim.) I think Mike offers the Student in 11" and 12" rims, and if you asked he might consider making one without the ring (you never know ;) Good luck.

Enoch banjos come at a 1&1/4" nut width, the Ome site says 1.28" and the Ramsey can have a 1&1/4" neck but often is too narrow at the fifth fret, making that 1&1/4" neck the equivalent of a 1&1/8" neck past the fifth fret.
How wide are you looking for? I see the Gold Tone Bob Carlin being offered at 1&3/8" and occasionally other builders will offer banjos that wide. For me, the 1&1/4 seems just right but YMMV. Contacting Enoch seems like a good idea. Banjered

Reply I spoke with Kevin Enoch one time A very nice guy to talk to but he does not normally make neck alterations according to width or length but will change the finish
