Hi there I was wondering if anyone is currently playing the patriot? I am talking to rob about buying one and I wanted to know what your opinions are. I have heard Rob's recording, does anyone else have one?

I have a custom Bishline and dont think you can go wrong with any of Robs banjos.

One thing to keep in mind though, right now Elderly has 20% off all new banjos. You could get the Cimarron with full tone ring for the normal price of the Patriot. Or just a really good deal on a new Patriot if you want the weight savings of the brass hoop versus a full tone ring.

I can't comment extensively on the Patriot. It was the first Bishline I picked up to play. I ended up ordering a custom from Rob because I just had to have that same feel/sound in my banjo. I'll quote Brian in saying "you can't go wrong." Take his advice and check out dealers that offer the discount.

Yep and I love it.  It does not sound like my flathead but, that is not a bad thing.  It is every bit as loud with the lighter weight.  It has a more solid woody sound where the flathead has more bite. (if that makes sense)  I have been wanting to post a comparison video but I haven't had time yet.  So far I really like it.  I bought it slightly used at Zepp's but, I think it still had the original strings on it.  I put a new bridge and strings on it and it sounds great.  I love the look and lighter weight.  It is the most true scale I have ever played.  It notes and plays like a dream.  I can not say enough about Rob's fret work.   It also sounds great for clawhammer playing.  My only complaint is the tuner holes are not a full 3/8's inch like most banjos in the price range.  I put my Keith D Tuners on it and had to ream out the holes alittle but, not a big deal.  It is a monster of a banjo.
