As a newbie I've been trying to wrap my head around this song. Thank you for sharing you recording, this helps me so much!

Really nice version - both the singing and the playing!
This song was recently the Old Time Tune of the Week, in this thread: banjohangout.org/topic/213275
You might want to take a listen to some of the various versions found there (including my own). I think yours holds up really nicely in comparison with the others.
It's not such an old thread, and I would encourage you to revive it by posting your version there. I'm sure it would be a welcome addition to the thread.

Thanks All!!
Marc how do I move the post to the other thread? I checked that out, I would post to the Darlin Corey song of the wk.
Hey Janet -- I did get the verse about the banjo on the knee!! I forgot plenty others though!!![]()
I wish I had researched the verses, I just went from memory......which isn't very good!!

Some songs work really well with just voice and banjo - Darlin Cory is one of them. That was some fine picking and singing - enjoyed it Rock!

...
I posted a link to this thread in a reply to the Tune of the Week Darlin' Cora thread, so now it's there.
You can go to that thread and add a reply of your own, to which you can attach your MP3 just like you did in the first post of this thread, if you'd like.

WOW! That was great! Great separation of notes. You motivated me to relearn this tune with the second string tuned to C. Post some more please.

I really enjoyed this tune too Rock. The sound of the banjo is terrific Would you mind telling what you do to record sound of that quality? I also liked hearing your voice. It added a lot.
Thanks.
