As I was messing around with Gillian Welch's "Rock of Ages" yesterday, it occurred to me that it might be useful to set up a neck diagram, label it with natural notes (no sharps or flats) and finally, start figuring out the more obvious chords, and easily playable chords, etc.
In the process, I found numerous chords from 3 different keys and decided to put them in "Harmonized Scale" order. i.e., Alphabetically in each key, so they'd make a little more sense to the ear when playing them or when listening to the TEF file as most of us would do initially.
I realize that folks that play in Sawmill tuning or g modal tuning don't use chords as we would in bluegrass or popular western hemisphere music in general.... but recently, I was working on a different arrangement, and found some very jazzy and pop-sounding chords in this tuning and I was immediately amazed by it.
So, I discovered that there may be a much greater use for the Sawmill tuning than is currently being used or explored.
For now, the attached 'chord chart' just touches the basic major and minor chords found in the keys of G, C and F...
P.S., I double-checked and referenced my TEF file tuning against an article in Wikipedia on Sawmill tuning and against an article on the BHO written by our own Janolov on Sawmill tuning to make sure I was correct on my description and use of the tuning.
