Howdy,
Some of my active and former students want to know if your tabs are still free. I teach only traditional Bluegrass and Melodic banjo so I'd be happy to send them your way but I don't think some people want to pay for online tabs anymore.

Like Bela Fleck and Tony Trischka before him, the younger folks are discovering there's more available to them than ever before and HappyBanjoDude is filling a very important need.
Even Earl Scruggs played in a rock band with his sons... Earl was a visionary and played with many professional musicians, regardless of style.. He was open-minded, as any good musician should be and a gentleman to the core...
Bill Keith is another pioneer... not afraid to try something new and be a leader in a field he single-handedly developed... There will always be followers... But great success is waiting for those called to lead!
John Hartford followed Earl's advice to follow his own dream... and look what happened... great success!
Don't be afraid to be your own man... the banjo world especially, needs more visionaries such as yourself!
HappyBanjoDude doesn't need my recommendations, but I recognize the need he is filling... and I recommend his books and methods anyway...
Seems like the major publishers are missing out on many market segments, but who am I to say? It leaves room for the little guys like us to make our own path...
Keep up the good work HappyBanjoDude, most of us are very happy to see you succeed at growing your interests and business... an open-minded younger person willing to devote time and effort to folks with his own interests...

I just wanted to ask if you're charging for your tabs at this point so I can pass the word to my students who may want your tabs. There is a great interest in the new direction of banjo playing.
I wouldn't call it Folk, Country or Bluegrass per se but I personally have no problem with this new approach to the 5-string banjo as an instrument; that's how things evolve after all. I will say though, that I don't anything new has been added to this new form of banjo playing which is just another way of playing a "three finger roll oriented" banjo style but in a Pop Rock style of the day.
Bill Keith's innovative style and new technique brought a whole new approach to Banjo playing in general. I have an article coming out in BNL in the July issue and I address briefly what Bill brought to banjo.

Some of the old timer's take issue with the younger, newer crowd... especially if the younger crowd charges for their products and services...
The conflict only seems to reside with one individual that I'm aware of... Every good business man and woman has to charge for the goods and services in order to stay in business... it's a fact of life... the individual I'm referring to with the minor issue charges for his services also... so you have to wonder which side of the line he/she stands on... can't be on both... and be fair...
Sometimes there are conflicts between the 'old way' and the 'new way'.... but those conflicts seems to reside only in the minds of their owners...
And, as the Bible says, "This too, shall pass"... nothing to worry about...

It's going to be an enormous boon for the young players...
"Contemporary Folk" seems to be an appropriate title for today's folk music crowd...
And there are already sub-genres of that title developing with each new band and player who comes into the fold...
It ain't 'newgrass' no more! 
They have a voice, just as each preceeding generation did and does...

I know this for a fact as a few of my personal students have left me for "free tabs". They usually return though

First off, thanks for your continued support. Since the get-go you've always provided me with nothing but positive comments and I thank you for that.
To answer your question, the song tabs on my site will forever always be free. I can't tell you how underhanded it feels to provide a video for a song then be redirected to a website where you must pay to view the tab... so I decided long ago that I would never partake in such a practice since it frustrates me and my students.
As for my "Ready To Roll" eBook on the webpage... over the past 8 years of teaching, I've come to the conclusion that the role of the teacher in the internet-era is not to provide information anymore (all the information is out there on the web for anyone to see), but in fact to filter all the information out there into a coherent, concise, and meaningful whole. In other words... to use my experience to dictate what is truly important to learn. That is the essence of "Ready To Roll" book on my site... it takes all the banjo basics I've taught over the years and organizes them is a extremely simple and easy to follow method that will get them playing as fast as possible. If someone likes my style and lesson videos but can't technically play the songs, then they might benefit from buying the eBook.... but if they're willing to work out the basics from other free sources, then more power to them! The music school I work at charges 50$ per lesson, and an in an hour lesson I usually cover 1-2 pages of material from my eBook... so the eBook provides many months of material for less than the cost of a single private lesson.
I think that Mumford and Sons have brought awareness to the banjo that we might not see ever again, and I feel so fortunate to be able to use my transcribing abilities to help people learn their music... as well as other contemporary artists like the Avett Brothers. As a teacher I've always shelved my personal tastes, and just thought "what do my students really want to learn?", "what will get them to practice for hours on end?", and those are the songs I seek out to provide tabs. I don't particularly enjoy some of those pop songs I've transcribed but I know that many people out there will enjoy them... and if the fact that I'm a younger teacher and goofy at times makes learning more palatable, then great! At the end of the day it's just about spreading the enjoyment of playing.

My second attempt for The Cave, based on the record. I do not hear the low D (with capo low E) note that would be on open 4th string, but the high D (with capo high E) note that I would place on 3rd fret of B string. Also for the sake of uniformity of the roll, I would start the 2nd measure on open 1st string picked by M - similarly to the 4th measure starting on 4th fret of the 1st string.
