I was asking for somebody else.

If I were a professional banjoist, I probably wouldn't be on this site and I certainly wouldn't be asking for ideas about my job and how to make money from random people on the internet. At minimum, I'd be figuring out a way to monetize my presence on-line.

As a programmer, I ask for lots of ideas on software from random people on the internet, but that's because those folks are actually using software. Kind of like how record producers don't pay attention to music the way musicians do. They pay attention to what people buy.

"How did such a young guy like you get so good?"

"You're much too attractive to be playing the banjo."

"I'm in room 315."

Stuff like that.

Once, while sitting on a park bench playing Rockingham Cindy, a young woman came up and asked me "Are you accepting money?" I was not at all annoyed by this question, and smiled and answered "yes." She gave me a dollar bill and went on her way. I thought it was the nicest thing in the world to have happened.

Another time, I was on an elevator at work, having just come back from taking a break and playing outside for a few minutes. Some other people got on and as the door closed, so nobody could escape, and the elevator started to move, I couldn't help myself. I started to play Dueling Banjos. The laughter that erupted was priceless.

I don't play out often enough to hear the same questions over and over again, so I'm not annoyed by anything yet.
