beef a roni? on a special ocasion like that go all out with the beenie weenies, maby a can of vi annys for an appitizer, or you can really step up with a jar of penrose hot sausage, don't forget the side of crackers and canned squirt cheese, probably better off with ritz than salteens on such a special day, then a nice box of wine.
can't go wrong

Beefaroni? Classless! Everybody knows that on such an auspicious occasion you go Italian. It's Boy-R-Dee ravioli all the way.

They had a news story on CBS Sunday morning last Sunday about Chef Boiardi. He was a real Chef and when his customers kept asking for his recipes and samples until the demand out paced his kitchen. He changed the name of the product to Chef Boy-ar-dee to help Americans pronounce his name and he insisted that his image appear on the cans so everyone could see who Chef Boy-ar-dee is.

Yeah, well I'd like to ask him what that orange stuff he calls sauce is. I think I already know the answer. The answer is "millions of dollars".
dat - Posted - 05/18/2011: 10:59:58
it's probably the same mystery orange stuff that is in wolf brand chili
dat - Posted - 05/18/2011: 11:02:08
we're just making sure he doesn't mess up, if all else fails and you don't want to go with the fancy store bought canned stuff, you could always go to the faithfull jar of pickled eggs
dawgdoc - Posted - 05/18/2011: 11:03:50
Hey, fire up the grill. Chicks can't grill and love it when the male of the relationship does so
(and I use the work chick with all due love and affection)
Asparagus, corn, onions, potatoes, go to the butcher and tell him you need to impress the wife with a decent cut of beef. Piece of cake. Better yet, go get some fresh shrimp, a bunch of vegetables, make kabobs. Fool proof, you can't screw it up and its very socially acceptable to drink beer heavily while grilling. My wife thinks I can cook.

Oh, Oh! And those hot sausages in the bottle of brine. Now THAT's dinner!

For the whordurves I suggest a plate with peanut butter stuffed celery, Spam squares on saltines with a dot of squeeze cheeze. Sardines on the half shell. topped with a slice of green olive.
Now what about dezert?
dat - Posted - 05/18/2011: 11:10:20
try jumbo butterfly shrimp stuffed with shredded monteray jack cheese with horseraddish mixed in the cheese stuff the shrimp and wrap with bacon then grill, baste with beer, not much, just stand close enough to the grill that when you spill what you're drinking some splashes on the shrimp

Making a big mess won't excuse you from ever having to cook again.
When you set the table, don't forget flowers and candles.
pandjlocke - Posted - 05/18/2011: 11:50:13
Flowers and candles? Fire hazard and dying things on the table. Deal breaker.

NOW THERE IS A WOMAN AFTER MY OWN HEART
pstroud1 - Posted - 05/18/2011: 12:25:28
You might want to do like I did this morning. I told Linda Lou we should stop and eat out while we were coming back from her doctor appointment. So I sees this little hot dog wagon along street and I figured we would save some money by grabbing a nice hot dog.
So I waited in the van while she got us a few hot dogs that way I knew she would pay for them. I did tell her I'd pay her back, I'm just not sure when because if I save my money I can take her out again to eat sometime. I can't in good conscience pay her back right now because I would never pay $4 for a hot dog on a bun that wasn't even steamed. Would you? She was happy except for the $4 part and even gave him a $1 tip??? :(
I love that woman she is someone special to be around. We're two peas in a pod.
Happy Paul & Happy Linda Lou

I had yesterday off & I noticed my wife had taken out frozen chicken legs & thighs so I added some stuff to marinate them in the same freezer bag they were in.
I chopped up some potato & onions & garlic & wrapped them up in tinfoil, We had two cobs of corn so I soaked them for a while & then took all the silk off.
I ground up some cumin, chillie powder & cajun spice & rubbed that on then I tied the husks back up. Pretty easy. Not fancy but ready to throw on the grill.
She did the cooking & I did the cleanup. I got points for that!.

You people are killin' me: my honey is 250 miles away until Friday night. I need candles and wine.
Figmo, there's 50,000(?) people here to do the recipe thing, all you gotta do is ask. Nuthin' fussy about exotic ingredients, either.
I have found that every time I asked, I got a recipe (traded) which was a real HOME RUN. Makes me think that BHO
people don't collect recipes like stamps. They sift and sift and keep the keepers.
I raised 2 fine kids on my personal recipe book of 250+ home runs. They work = kid tested.
