Was tired after a heavy week, and had to do something else. So I built an electric banjo. I thought I would make a practice banjo, but added an old Höfner mic. Amazing what you can do with a Jig-saw an some old guitar parts. I have taken some pictures (it's not painted yet), and even a couple of badly played MP3's.  It's amplified trough an old FBT tube-amp.  Fun??

Maybe it would look nice in light-gray. I'm going to cover the mic and hollows with a plectrum guard.

..........one day. .... in the future...

That's a beautiful idea for a peg head.

So here it is! Painted black and mounted a plect. guard. Not so bad for a practice /el banjo project. Costs me about 50 bucks.

Pretty cool.

What size head is that? And what ar using for the ring that holds it down? Can you tighten the head?

The head is a complete Remo practice pad, I think it would be 8 inches. It's not necessary to tighten the head. It is damped. The whole pad is fastened to the rest of the plywoodbody underneath.

Thanks Bill.

I'm actually using the thing quite a lot. The set up and action has turned out ok, and the acoustic tone is nice in itself. No intonation problems!

........and my wife doesn't close the door so fast. Doesn't think my playing has improved so much. Think it has to be the volume!
