Take a look in the classifieds folks.  She is a real beauty!

That is a nice banjo.  The way SSS intended.  Old Sam wrote often about not having a lot of fancy inlay in the fingerboard, as it was difficult to repair.  The funny thing is that he used such thick inlay, that they just don't come out.

FWIW I think you are about $750 too high.  Though having the original tailpiece with rosette is a a huge plus, not to mention the overall condition being very good.

Good luck to you, I hope it finds a good home.

Thanks for your input. You are right; she is a nice banjo.  I happen to agree with ol' Sam as to the austere appearance fret board.  As for the price, you may be right, but you don't find them this clean very often.

Here is another Thoroughbred on the net:

Last year another sold on here in similar condition for $1,950...no rosette.

I might be a little strong, but I am including shipping. $1,500 will not buy this banjo.

Hey folks,

I just reduced the price on this beauty by $300.

This is a very good buy on a very clean antique banjo.

I like Stewarts too. and the tailpiece is nice.

Is 1950 what  you dropped the price to?

That is a lot for this banjo in today's market.

BiggT - Posted - 04/27/2011:  14:28:37

Yes, $1950 is what I dropped to.

You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner one at any price.

Want to make an offer?

BiggT - Posted - 04/30/2011:  08:33:44

Down to $1600 now.

Please do not comment on my price if you are not willing to make a serious offer.

Anyone want to make an offer on this thing?  Needing some cash to pay the hospital and trying to figure out exactly why I pay insurance premiums...No way I would part with this banjo in better times.
