Some several weeks back, somebody suggested using dice as tuner peg buttons.

So, eventually, I gave it a try.

Nip off the factory button, as close to the shaft as possible, so that a bit of sideways leverage will cause the shaft to break through the remaining plastic.

Pre-set the gap in the vise, pick up the shaft with pliers, and get the end to a soft glow.

Then, while the shaft is good and hot, press it into the hole, and commence to squeeze.

And just to be clever about it, I drilled the dice so that the number on the outside surface is the number of the string.

And here's what it looks like, assembled.

Not better, but different.

They look a bit "blocky" to me, which leads me to just that -- well not exactly since I don't always use gDGBD tuning but what about LEGO tuners? Or, since you are at least as old as I am - remember the tuners on Mel Bey's Gretsch? There must be a couple million pictures of them out there in guitar method world.

Mike you are such a lateral thinker, I suggest you hereby be known as Edward D'Bono Old Wood Chuck.

And maybe somebody will say that my playing sounds like crap-shoot!

But, like Jerry Reed says about dice games:

===================

"When you're hot, you're hot!
When you're not, you're not!
Put ALL the money in,
And let's roll 'em again!
When you're hot, you're hot!
