I have a Zoom H2 recorder. It is a great little recorder and not being very savvy when it comes to technical stuff I am most likely not using to its full capacity. When I record there is time before and after I perform my song of dead air, or you might hear a bit of shuffling (me). I would like to edit those seconds out. Is there any free software out there that might help me? Something simple and easy to use. Thanks.

Just so you know... Reaper isn't free. It costs $40. But it has an unlimited trial, so you can use it until you get the money together! Or decide you don't want to pay.

Reaper is a great software package and well worth the money but simple would not be a descriptive adjective for a editing newbie.
I'd go with a much simpler editor as it sounds like you only need to top and tail your sound files.

Waveosaur is a very small but versatile free stereo editor. I can load it and a few favorite vst effects onto a little usb drive and take it with me anywhere there's a PC available.
