which do ya'll like better? Vienna sausages or Penrose hot sausages out of the jar?
now comes the true gourmet's come out,
vienna sausages are good, but for a real treat reach for the jar of penrose, not quite heart healthy, but good when you're sitting in a duck blind![]()

Hot pickled sausage, a pickled egg with plenty of hot sauce and a cold beer. What else would a guy want?

I don't have a clue as to what Penrose hot sausages are. I sometimes yield to the lure of Vienna sausages and share them with my cats.

Not something to be consumed if you've gone fishing in chest waders.

Maybe some Vienna's or Penrose sausages (maybe both) with saltines and a cold Miller for lunch. Headed to the store later.
(Don't read the ingredients info on the vienna can!)

I've never noticed Penrose. Of course, I haven't spent much time in the canned meat aisle, so there you go.
I like Ronnie's suggestion of saltines. Smoked oysters on saltines are a late night camping treat for the adults after lights out for the kids. If beer were allowed at Boy Scout outings, I could say that a Miller also goes great with -- but I can't say that.

The white trash part of me loves them both.......And I agree with Ronnie--DON"T read the ingredient list--just enjoy the snack as it is...And I don't do any 'special' fixing of them-- dripping right out of the jar or can straight into my mouth!!! Now that the weather here has warmed up to the mid 40's here in Western PA--might have to go and get some. (*really* weird weather here the past day or three).\
