Chip, this is just what I've been looking for as well. I appreciate the explanation you give to the 2 finger style on your audio clips (and I do like that version of Elk River Blues you do as well, that's one to strive for!)

thanks dave, if you have a look at my friend's page (five12gal) on BHO we play elk river blues together with the a and b parts in proper order. amy is playing thumb lead 2-finger and i'm playing index lead 2-finger.

Thank you Nathan. How kind of you. I had a look at it and finally I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Strange how complicated two fingers can sound.

Art Rosenbaum's Old-Time Mountain Banjo has seven two-finger tabs, four in thumb-lead and three in index-lead.

The "Thumb-Lead Banjer" site is great! Not just tabs (which I've already printed, including the Christmas songs - thanks!), but also gives historical notes on the songs.

It's in triple meter, so 3/4 or 6/8 depending on how you feel it.
