Ok here is installment numero five in my weekly fiddle tune series.

This is an old Reel. Not a perfect take by any means but nevertheless here it is:

The Second Variation I tried to take some of the triplet pulloff sounds I learned from Allen Sisson's fiddling and incorporate it into the arrangement...and somehow had Scruggs' "Sally Ann" in mind with one of the high slides

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post anything new last week in the series, but it was busy :P

Hey Eddie,
The key to doing large fret jumps is to be relaxed and not taking your fingers very far off the fingerboard. If I know something "difficult" is coming I make sure I'm breathing right as well.
A good way to practice this is to start at a fret on the lower end and jump to one on the high end, seeing how easy and effortless you can get there. A teacher of mine once had me practice leaving my fingers on the strings and then jumping and instead of fretting the next note just place my finger where it was about to press. A good exercise.
A lot of it is moving your arm/shoulder properly as well.

Well, I finally got around to checking this out! (can't do it from work)
Excellent! - I was wondering what was your source for this tune? You certainly have some nice variations. Also - any particular pattern to your RH playing? you seem to use consecutive fingers a lot, but sometimes it was hard to tell from the vid quality.
