Just wondering who among you owns a new Huber True Tone ?
I am the proud owner of the VRB-75 (1941) shown on the Huber website,
Dean is the owner of the VRB-4 also shown on the website, so I am wondering who else has one of these SUPER banjos. Perhaps we can share our collective experiences in a dedicated thread.
Looking forward to hearing from you !
Allen

Mine is a rb1 copy built by huber and has the engineered rim and hr30 ring. Really nice sounding banjo. They have produced something special with these banjos that you have to hear and feel for yourself.

I can't find it on the website, so it probably has not yet been posted. JBalch has it located on the Huber BHO page.

I am a proud Huber owner. I recently bought a 30s Kel Kroydon rim and resonator banjo with all new Huber parts. I have never been more satisfied with a banjo both in terms of tone and looks. I don't know if the new true tone ring is in it but the tone just pours out of it effortlessly as though it were electically amplified. He is definitely on to something. I don't think you can go wrong if you buy one of his banjos.

I have the VRB-G on order since October. Its going to be at least 6 months before I get it, but count me in as an owner.
It will have;
Full Flying Eagle inlay
Keith D tuners
antique binding
Granada engraving
custom truss rod cover with my name on it.
Huber strap
amber tuners
I can't wait to get it.

I only have two Hubers. I should save up for a True-tone! Of course both my Hubers have the HR30 ring and one of 'em has the new rim, so maybe I'm eligible for this club.

I've got an 07 Lancaster with HR30 ring and with a transplanted prewar rim.....it's far and away the best Huber I've owned (out of 5).......all were very good banjos....two of the others were exceptional.....

I just started standing in line to join this club if it will have me. Just bought 'Majorbanjos' 07 Lancaster which already has the HR-30 ring and will get it off to Huber for the new engineered rim to be added to it. I too have to wait a bit since I won't get home until early September next year but from all accounts, it will be worth the wait. The sound clips sound great on Huber's web-site.

All I've got is an old Granada with a HR-30 prototype ring in it; does that qualify for membership?

Trey,
Will do if I can stand the excitement of waiting. Good dealing with you as well. Not too many things in life come close to the excitement and anticipation of a new banjo.

My custom mahogany/gold/FE Huber has the HR-30 ring and new rim, so technically it is a True Tone.

I have always wanted a Huber and if someone would be so kind as to send me one I'll be happy to join the club!! ![]()

Hey, Kurt, give Huber Banjos a call . . . I'm sure they will be happy to send you one. Probably give ya a good deal, too. =^)

I have an HR-30 in my old Gibson TB-2. Check out this link of Jim Mill's playing it at the Flathead seminar last Saturday. It is more banjo than I deserve! I'd like to tru-tone one of my older Hubers but no funds yet! Let me know what you think!

Last year Steve built me a VRB-G using the new Truetone engineered rim and the HR-30 tone ring. It is a really fine banjo, in fact the best new banjo I've ever owned.
Recently I recorded an original tune called "Dance of the Boers" using both the VRB-G and a 1937 original five-string, flathead RB-3.
The first and third solos are the Huber VRB-G and the second and fourth solos are the pre-war RB-3.
Listen for yourself!

Apart from considering this a highly interesting experiment, I have one comment:
Beau-ti-ful Music!

What RB-1 said. Those two banjos are so close it's amazing. The prewar RB-3 sounds just a tad mellower but other than that they pretty much sound identical. Considering the Huber is only a year old I think a little aging will even that up. I think Steve may have cracked the secret code.

Aside from that just being a beautiful tune, that's a neat idea mixing those two banjos in the same song. I feel like it's a little bit of apples and oranges comparing the maple and mahogany banjos, but both of them sound really nice.

I have a Ron Block Truetone that is, by far, the best banjo I've owned in a long time. Its got everything I've looked for in tone, sound, volume, playability. It's an incredible banjo with incredible craftsmanship. Now I have to save up for a VRB-4 Truetone. Some day.
