Thanks to Banjo Newsletter for this heads-up.

Gusto has just released 10 instrumentals by Allen Shelton in At His Best: Bending the Strings.



It's shown at bluegrassmusicusa.com/alshathisbe.html but as of this writing,
there is no ORDER button as with other CDs.

Looks like the same thing at store.gustorecords.com/alshathisbe.html

Hope it comes soon!

I definitely want a copy when available. I chatted with him once and consider him one of the greatest banjo players ever. I have a funny story about a friend (who is a really great banjo player himself) who once was at a festival where Alan was playing. While Greg was picking his banjo and playing some incredible stuff Alan walked by and listened a bit. After a while he asked if he could pick Greg's banjo and it was quickly passed to him. Alan then politely asked if he could tune it. Greg tells the story with a laugh. That is the kind of humble guy Alan was.

I loved hearing Allen Shelton perform live.

I got my copy of the CD, opened it up, and was pleasantly surprised to find of one my 1969 photos of Allen embossed on the CD itself!
