Here is my 02 for what it is worth, I met Stan a couple of months ago and we discussed some things, and I learned some things from him. I talked to Stan again last week and bought a Huber ring from him, put it in my RB-75 and I have a KILLER setup. It was a good deal, he is a very nice person and has been very honest and straight forward in our dealings. He also is a very good musician and will go out of his way to make sure your happy when dealing with him. I would not hesitate to call Stan in a heartbeat if I were looking for a part that I thought he might have, as a matter of fact the last thing he said to me when I drove away the other day was ....."call me if you need help with anything". No bad thoughts here Stan, we're good to go! kent

While we are on the topic of Replicas, Copies, and Fakes, here is something I thought was unusual... Gibson issues "copy of a copy"

Saul Hudson, a rock guitarist professionally known as Slash, recorded the first Guns and Roses album and played on their first tour with a guitar he believed to be an older Gibson Les Paul. It was later determined to be a very well done luthier made replica of a Gibson Les Paul. Now Gibson has released the Appetite for Destruction Slash model (their 3rd or 4th Slash model guitar) Les Paul.

For all the critics on the hangout, this use to be my banjo that I had purchased the parts for from different sources, had Arthur Hatfield make a neck and the only reason he put Gibson on the neck was because I was going to do a old granada conversion but then my deal fell thru. I had him finish the neck with the promise to him that I WOULD NOT SELL IT AS A TRUE GIBSON. I sent Arthur the parts and he assembled the banjo and set it up for me. It was a great banjo but I needed some money for health reasons and sold it to Stan. I told Stan the complete story so there was NO misunderstanding. Stan is one of the most honest up front guys I know an if you read his ad NO WHERE does he say this is a GIBSON MADE BANJO. He makes reference to Gibson style, that the neck says Gibson, He names all the different parts used. No way this man tried or is trying to pass this off as a Gibson banjo. A Gibson copy which many of us have yes but not a true gibson so leave the man alone and let him sell his damn banjo. What a bunch of whiny, interfering, self righteous jerk offs some of the hangout members are. Jim Mulford

Everytime I see one of these post that has to do with a 'Gibson' copy, I cringe. I completly understand where banjostan is coming from as I own two Gibson copies, an RB75 and Granada copy. Both were built for me back in the mid-80's and early 90's or before it became unfashionable to admit one would own a 'fake' Gibson. My reasons for having these banjos built had more to do with me being left-handed and not finding what I wanted through Gibson. They were built by one the most well know builders in the business and both have completly satisfied me with there workmenship and playability. As long as your up front when you sell a banjo as a copy, what's the problem? If I were to sell one of my banjos it would be as a 'Gibson Copy'. Let there be no doubt.

If this wasn't an ad, which at this point it really isn't, this topic would have been closed by now. The ad all of you are commenting on is worded much differently than it was at first, and the topic title is different.

Originally it was an ad for a 'Gibson banjo', which it is not. Since then the text/title has been corrected, there's obviously no problem with it as it is. All of you who are harping on this subject are fighting a fight that doesn't exist. I wish someone would buy this thing so this misguided thread could die.

Hey beardog, those are my pretty legs in the reflection.... i just want to say this has been a very interesting ad to say the least good and bad. and jim (PREWAR-3) thanks .. to start off with i never tried to mislead anybody just trying to get people to look at my ad JUST LIKE A SALESMAN and then if you read my ad you see the truth with that said.if you look at banjos they are nothing more than parts .i been to a lot of builder's shop's even some big companies who use first quality music and stew mac for thier supplies. and they just assemble them.now this banjo is a super nice banjo and in my mind it is as good as anything being made arthur hatfield huber robin smith and even gibson and frank neat they are great builder's this banjo is as good as any of the builder's name i have mention. i like all of these builder's .... now back to the banjo for the money it is well built you can spend 4 or 5 thousand for a new huber custom or a new gibson my banjo is not much different than just the name and who built it.like i said before if i had not got a prewar 1 peice flange banjo i would not even think of selling my hatfield-(GIBSON COPY) i have had a lot of interest in the banjo .lots of email's and (THE BANJO IS ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT) so for now i want to have this topic to be lock'ed because it has got off the subject of being forsale. i will leave the classified ad up just in case the deal falls through first come first serve. like i said before thanks for you who support my ad and have made some new friends on the hangout if interested you can email me but as of now the banjo is spoken for but no funds as of yet. but feel good about the buyer but i like to have a backup in case the deal should fall through. god bless and take care. stan.
