Banjo Diva has recommended moleskin (for preventing blisters on feet). It has worked very well for me on my metal thumbpick that is a bit large for me. I have it stuck to the inside bottom of my pick and extended a little up the sides.

Moleskin does work very well, I used to use it when I used plastic thumbpicks. But a good thing about metal thumbpicks is that you can shape them easily with pliers. I took some needlenose pliers and bent a little ridge on my pick, about in the middle of the blade between the tip and where it starts to curve around the side, the ridge goes across the blade. The ridge grips the fleshy part of your thumb preventing the pick from spinning around on your thumb. My pick doesn't move at all since I did that.

Another vote for moleskin. Inexpensive and effective.

Scruggs writes that he scratches the inside of his thumb picks to keep them in place. Seems to me that roughing the inside up with a small file or sandpaper may increase the friction. As mentioned earlier, moleskin is a cure-all, but may be a little thick in the picks are the right size for you now.

If the minimum wasn't good enough...it wouldn't be the minimum.
