"Cherry Blossom Waltz" was written by Tony Ellis and recorded on his album "Farewell My Home" FF 70620.

The clawhammer tab is available here (in Tabledit format):
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/d.k.ma...om_waltz.tef

A recording of me playing it here:

And a video of me playing it is here:

I hope that you enjoy it.

Dave

Very nice Dave. This tune works out nicely clawhammer.

He has two tunes I just learned fingerstyle that are easily played clawhammer style: "Red Dog" and "Snow Camp". Both are in FCFCD. And I think there is a BNL tab done clawhammer style by Ken Perlman of "Stephen" another beautiful tune Tony Ellis tune.

I'm a big Tony Ellis fan. A tune that is always a part of my set when I play is "When I Think Of You".

If you play clawhammer and have never tried fingerstyle, Tony's tunes have two finger styles and also more bluegrassy styles in them. I think they'd be a good starting off point for someone wanting to learn different fingerstyles. And you can clawhammer them too.

Thanks for this great tune of the week Dave.

Hummm. I copied and pasted the computer hyroglyphics but they didn't transfer in my previous reply so my comment may have seemed a little esoteric. Is there any other way to post the tab? PDF ? Thanks

That's lovely. I enjoyed the quick run through, and looking forward to getting under the fingers. We need more clawhammer waltzes.

The tab file is in Tabledit format. If you don't have the Tabledit program, you can download a free viewer from www.tabledit.com

Great tune, great video clip. Mr Ellis writes some good tunes.

Thanks for posting, and bringing the tune to our attention.

Thanks for bringing this tune to my attention. I have three versions of it, and now yours, on Youtube, will be my fourth.

Dan Levenson and Kim Murley play it on The New Frontier album - Dan had a beard then!

Also, there are nice versions by the Orpheus Supertones and by Palmer and Greg Loux.

This Tune of the Week is soooo much fun. I've one slot open in NOvember - last week of November - who is going to volunteer?

Don''t miss Mike Iverson''s performance in

Also...a clawhammer workshop for
intermediate players is scheduled for
November 23, 2008. Email inquiry@siliconheights.com

Great Tune O' The Week choice, Dave.

Just for the heck of it, I recorded it using my CEB-5 cello banjo.

I think it has some potential -- although you might not know it by MY playing. Just ignore all that head-thumping (I'm working on it). Maybe we can talk Cathy Moore or Erich into recording a cello banjo version.

Thanks for posting this, and thanks for the tuna the week, everybody.

I'm probably missing something, but I can't get the thing in readable form. I've downloaded TefView (for Mac X) and the free Carbon Tabledit program, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get those weird runes from the website that Dave posted into the program.
Sorry to hijack the Cherry Blossom thread but I'd appreciate guidance...

Tom

For those who cannot read the TEF file, here is a link to a jpeg of the tab.

Same boat myself. If I understand what some people say, you have to download three seperate things to get it to work. True anyone? The site appears to a translation from some other language and very difficult to follow ( a lot of in-house, tecky terms/deffinitions not given etc. We need a TEF guide for the tenoid challenged here on BH. The jpeg worked, sort of. Thanks . TC
