So I went to teach in South Korea for a year, and didn't bring my banjo.
I thought I could find one here easily.
Yeah that was a mistake. So I spent the last six months banjo less, and when homesickness finally really sucker punched me, I really missed it.
But finally I talked to a local music store guy, looking for a tambourine to make a canjo with, and it turned out that he had a banjo sitting in his closet that he is letting me borrow for the rest of my time here!
Moral of the story, don't leave you banjo at home when going six thousand miles away for a year. No fun.
Oh and now that I have a banjo again, I am looking to learn some new tricks so I will be hanging out at the hangout again!

Howdy hamlets-b!
Good advice, thanks.
What kinda banjo does a fella find tucked away in a closet .... 6000 miles away?

A very beat up Franciscan, with a suspiciously clean head. When I first saw the poor thing, the lower neck was a mess and the finger board was starting to peel off. It took him four days to fix up. The cool thing is, is that it has a wooden rim so when I got it back to the apartment I took the resonator off and stuck a sock in the back and now I have a wonderfully mellow and quite loud open back banjo.
He put some acoustic guitar strings on it, I told him that banjo strings are basically the four highest string of the guitar, but they are a bit heavy. I am going to get some light ones here in a week or so and switch them out.
I am really really really grateful to him. I missed playing banjo, and playing guitar or trying mandolin just doesn't cut it.

Man, and I thought I had it rough when I went to Hawaii for 9 days without a banjo.
That's actually a pretty cool story.
