Gopher,Everett? - Posted - 03/21/2008: 15:31:33
I just finished playing for 2 hours after putting on a Sampson Old Growth walnut bridge on my Gold Tone CB-100 open back.
I play clawhammer and wanted a less jangly, more mellow tone. I got it in spades. This bridge easily moved this banjo up two grades in the Gold Tone line in terms of sound quality. The sound is fuller, richer, and all the 'jangly' sound it used to have when I played the first string up the neck has been replaced with a crisp, sweet sound.
If you want a richer, more mellow sound, run, don't walk, to the nearest music store. Online, Elderly and Janet Davis has them.
"Gopher, Everett?"
"No thank you, Delmar. I'm afraid one-third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedin' her back down."
