I searched the forums but couldn't find any information. I am trying to get an estimated value on a B&D Senorita 4-String. It is not in the best condition. I don't know much about banjos, but some of the binding has small cracks, the drum top has a signature on it with a 3 star stamp underneath, and some scribbling.

I am just trying to get a ball park figure, what and excellent condition one would be, and a bad condition one. I didn't see a serial number on the banjo, i looked everywhere. There is a plate that says it is made by Groton though.

Also, if I wanted to unload this, where does one do that? other than ebay.

Hi Bobby, welcome aboard. The best place to try and get a comparable value are the various internet sites that sell vintage banjos... places like www.elderly.com; www.gruhn.com. ; www.mugwumps.com/ ; www.bernunzio.com/ ; There are others I am sure. Ebay is another good place to look.

The signature info on your banjo head would most likely be 'Jos. Rogers' and the stars relate to the quality rating of the head. Good luck in your hunt.

Tenor or plectrum--that will make a difference. Senoritas aren't as desirable as the standard Silver Bells and bring lower prices. You could sell here in the classifieds or through one of the 4-string banjo forums as well as eBay or Craig's LIst. You might contact Dave Schenkman at Turtle Hill banjos (he's not too far from you) and see what he says.

Tenor has 17 or 19 frets; plectrum 22 frets. There are hybrid 20-fretters, but they're rare.
