Is there any way of knowing by looking at a First Quality/Sullivan tone ring to see if is indeed so and also maybe the year of the ring....there's no markings on this one.....just curious....any info is appreciated....

Mine has the Sullivan name engraved on the skirt.
FQMS carries other rings, I belive all Sullivan rings would be engraved.
can always check with Eric at FQMS.

The Sullivan cryo ring has the name engraved on the outside, and I saw Thunderbolt stamped on one of the new ones.
I have never found any markings on any others and have had several.

That's what I'mm tryin to find out also....."Gugger" had it and sold it to another BHO member and I got it from her...... I E-mailed him but I didn't get a responce yet....It's in one of my banjos right now and it sounds real,real good....

Their conversion rings are very good and I am a fan of their newest rings. It has been posted that even their old formula is one of the closest to an actual pre war, but they have not had a lot of hype like several others. Pricing has been reasonable for quite a while as well.

My last communication with Bill Sullivan was emailing him a pic of a tonering that I understood to be a Sullivan. I was wondering if it was a cryo or standard since there are no markings..
In "My friend Bill's" charming way he said that it was one of his standard flathead's The cryos have the Sullivan name etched on them. Even though there are no markings he recognized it as on recognizes one of their own children (Bill's words 
). Bill passed just days later.
It was a great sounding ring and a parts banjo I should have kept. I bought it on a Cumberland Accoustics maple rim and it was a very, very loose fit.
