it's very easy to spot these scams because they want you to contact them outside of ebay. The easiest way for these people to scam you is to get you to circumvent the ebay bidding process and send them money directly. This way ebay has no way to track them.

It may be easy to spot the scams, but I just clicked that link and the current bid listed is $99 with a $1300 buy it now price.
$1300 buy-it-now for a prewar Gibby by itself oughta throw up some flags...

They just cancelled it again. The problem is, all they need is just a few minutes for someone to get their email address and contact them. They will post 20 or more scam auctions with the hope of snagging at least one person in the few minutes it is running. Must work, because they never give up.

No, I don't believe the scams will ever stop. Scam artists will never give up (they've even managed to continue when behind bars) because there is too much money in it and they play on people's desire to get "a good deal." If they do turn around and become honest law abiding folks, there are always more crooks trying to make an easy and fast buck. So everyone just has to be on their guard and careful not to let that so called "good deal" bite them in the proverbial butt and pocket book. There are good bargains and honest folks on ebay, but we should not expect that there is any way to make it "scam free." Scam artists have a way of slipping through the tiniest cracks. Good thing folks like Louis are keeping an eye out on the scum, oops I mean scam artists.
