I've been obsessed with this tune since hearing Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer play it with Marcy on the banjo cello. Pete Sutherland has a couple of fine fiddle versions too. Double-C tuning on Bay State 318.

Great job! I had the same feeling of motivation after hearing Cathy Fink do this, but you are way beyond me.

How very beautiful, David! The song, done by Kathy and Marcy haunts my mind and I have worked at it, myself. I have only been playing for a year and am still working on it on my WL 250 Goldtone.
Thanks for sharing!

Very graceful, finely wrought. Such a beautiful performance. A virtual treatise on how to fill the spaces without getting in the way of the tune.

That is gorgeous!
It brought a tear to my eye (seriously).
Some melodies do that . . . but it takes a "musician" to bring them to life and you did that!
Very fine,
Tom

(Had to leave a second comment)
David,
I too really enjoy the playing of Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, but I wanted share with you my wife’s comment upon hearing your recording of Coleman’s March.
She said “David’s performance is MUCH more enjoyable than theirs. Very pretty and full of feeling."
I love your ornaments . . . the hammer-on’s, pulls off’s, slides, and the trills. Not to mention the dynamics and rubato. The NylGut strung banjo sounds perfect for this piece. I will be studying your performance. (OK, I confess . . . “stealing” as much of it as I can!)

Very well done, having just watched Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer on YouTube, I've got to learn this tune. Cathy Fink has tabbed it out in the Nov 2007 issue of Banjo Newsletter so that will be my start, then I'll listen to your MP3 to try and get the feel.
Thanks for putting this out here.
