Hey Tim:
Man, that's a lot of fun the way you guys do this one. Great pulsing beat. Don't know how to apply the stars, but you guys get a big five in my book.

Hi John, Thanks for writing. Yeah, that's a fun tune to play. That recording was the first time that JP and Leo ever played that tune. I looked on your page and our favorite musicians are pretty close. Pete Seeger is the reason why I play banjo at all. best, tim

Excellent tune but new to me. It rolls along like a good tune should.

I learned this tune from Mac Benford and it is generally thought of coming from the Kentucky river basin and the playing of Luther Strong. We had some fun playing and shooting video the other night in a friends living room. here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnMjwX8HDCk

This tune was written by Garry Harrison of Charleston, IL - he was the fiddler for the defunct "Indian Creek Delta Boys" and currently plays in "The New Mules". Garry is also the compiler/author of the monumental "Dear Old Illinois" song/tune collection. You folks do a mighty fine version if I do say so myself!

Thanks so much for the info and feedback. I love the whole Illinois / Missouri thing. I learned a lot from a guy named Steve Mote who used to play with the Stoneking family.
