I think that the toughest part for me, while learning Banjo is remembering to hand position. Thankfully I was trained early as a musician and am good at remembering posture and a bit of fingering. Now, My hand.. I still can't really keep my ring and pinky fingers flush on the banjo head... my pinky is actually fine but my ring finger is the one I seem to keep lifting off the head.
I saw one gentleman use a big orange sponge to rest his arm on and wondered if it was just because he's played so long or if it helped relax his hand? What benefit, If there is does that do I wonder?
So I'm looking at practice tips on fingering and keeping correct hand position.. maybe even finger stretching tech. So, I'll keep remembering to relax my hand and keep that ring finger down..
I can play Cripple Creek in its entirety,
Foggy Mountain breakdown is almost completely memorized,
and I work with the chord chart daily.. Starting to see the practice pay off.
Until next time
Mikey

Have played several instruments over many years, mostly a drummer. Toured in a band and traveled plenty. Always wanted to learn banjo..
