Shouldn't the decimal point in the price be more to the left?

It just goes to show how much "Vintage" adds to the price since this banjo probably cost about $79.95 new at TOYS R US OR KMART, hey and the tone is amazing, just think how good it would sound with "Gibson Strings"

Seems there are also some pretty good Brazos.

Beegee, did you miss something? It is actually the rarer "double eagle" version.

Not the one I am lookin fer....I like these oldies, but it's the 250 copy that is rare. I have a 1970's mint archtop, and it looks nothing like the one pictured here...got some more shots of the flange, headpeg, and fret-board? They made a bunch of these with the "eagles" on them, and these were the "Korean bunch"....the really sought after models are hard to find. I bought my latest from Kip Hemmingway, and it is one of the last GP archtops I have seen. My Brazos weighs in at over 13 lbs, and has a powerful voice. What does this one weigh? around 9.5 lbs??

"quote by Don" "Shouldn't the decimal point in the price be more to the left?" On this one, I would actually agree.

I think some's trying to kerplunk my doughnut....I would never pay THAT for a Brazos...as nice as they are (I will put MYBrazos banjo against any archtop in the crowd!) that is an exorbidant amount...I think that's a "shill" member?? anyway, where is he? I'll download pics of Brazos, and maybe that will quench the thirst for "Banjer-blood"!!

At most, since it looks like a very thin cast-aluminum rim. Could be why the shipping is free--no need to mention the weight.

I used to have a Brazos arch top. It was nothing like this one. The banjos Hawksbill is talking about were "real" banjos. Hawksbill...I sold that banjo to someone in Crossville probably 15 or more years ago.
Randy Brown
Well just shoot in here amongst'' us. One of us gotta have some relief!
hawksbill - Posted - 02/16/2009: 16:41:54
I purchased a Brazos flattie from Lonnie Danniels (he's about 80 now) here in Crossville...he did not want to part with it. I sold it to a fellow in ENGLAND (demonstrates it's international flavor and recognition) for $1,100.00 but it is NOTHING like the archtop I bought from Kip this winter. It had a loose neck stud, and OMG does it sound right. Thanks Randy...it' was probably the same one.

Klondike Waldo - Posted - 02/16/2009: 17:06:24
I sent a question to the seller. Let's see what he has to say. For $1800, you should be able to get 10 brand new- or maybe 8 if you want your own name brand on them.
Hmmm, Would anyone want to buy a genuine "Klondike Waldo" Chinese beer can banjo?
I''ll never play like Earl Scruggs or sing like Luciano Pavarotti, but I''ll pick better than Luciano and sing tenor better than Earl

No reason, I just thought it might have been a "friendly roast" in reference to my Brazos Banjo....I welcomed the opportunity to share it with the friends here. I thought you might have set this up, as the topic of the topic seemed to revolve around the "quality" of the Brazos I gave a report on & have shared here. And if you didn't, super! And if you had done it . Just as super! Thanks Beegee....did you see the pics of the Brazos I have? Joe

Mine is a little nicer than this one, ....and mine has the Brazos inlay at the last fret position... I really wouldn't take less than $2500 for mine...where did you find this pic BeeGee?

In the Bruce Willis movies, "Die Hard" (I thru IV) whenever he is ready to gradually insert something up the bad guys posterier (?sp.) that's what he says.
You hear that phrase, watch out....or at least don't bend over. Sorta like dealing with Congress. ![]()
