Longtime string strangler. Playing uke the last 6 years has led me back to banjo. Tried Scruggs style as a teenager w/ a great teacher, but it didn't take. I'm looking for an open-back 5 string to play as a plectrum. Update: found an old Silvertone 5-string resonator on ebay. Replaced cheap plastic head w/Elite and removed 5th string and tuner, installed Grover bridge. Sounds great! I'm tweaking a few playability issues (nut, action)
