Lance has played music, of some kind, most of his life. At an early age of 8 he played ukulele with his father who also played the Uke, and the Banjo. At the age of 14, Lance took an interest in banjo. He has been playing it ever since. About, 28 years ago, Lance was playing banjo, with a small group, at Disneyland. in Southern California. He heard some of the Dixieland bands performing there, and thought it would be fun someday to play that kind of music. He was at Disneyland for two years, and then Started playing banjo with piano players at Shakey’s Pizza parlor, on Weekends. From time to time, Lance, joined in on some Dixieland Jam Sessions, that were held once a month. It was not until 8 year later, that he was asked to join one of the best known Dixieland Bands on the circuit, at that time. They were known as the Hot Frogs Jumping Jazz Band. He went on to tour and perform, with this band, for the next 10 years. The Frogs, were asked by the City of Los Angeles to perform at the 750 year sister city celebration in West Berlin, Germany. Lance left the Hot Frogs, to perform with the West Coast, Night Blooming Jazzmen. They are Still one of the Top listed Jazz bands in the country. He still is a member, even though they are on the West Coast. He works with them, only when they travel, which is about 6 times a year. Lance has also worked a season with another well known band, The Titan Hot 7 Jazz Band. With all the bands, Lance can be heard on 8 CD’s. These Jazz Bands have Taken Lance and His Wife, Marilou, to most every State in the Country, including Alaska and Hawaii. Their foreign trips and Cruises have gone to other parts of the world like Germany, England, Russia, Netherlands, Mexico and many parts of Canada. Along with working with the bands, for the past 20 years now, Lance is requested to appear from time to time as a guest Banjo soloist. He was part of a special All-Star Band that was chosen for the Chilliwack B.C. Jazz Festival. He also has performed for the 20th consecutive time at the Largest Festival in the world…. The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. He was playing with the Nightblooming Jazzmen, and also featured as a guest banjoist. Other instruments you may have heard lance play are: St. Bass, Tuba, Violin, Mandolin, and Piano. Lance sometimes plays, solo piano, background music at private parties. To supplement his music, Lance has his own Piano Tuning and Repair business, and still draws on his earlier electronics training, as a computer repair specialist in this area.
