Self-taught. First banjo from "monkey wards". Started by slowing Earl and Ralph's 33 rpm lp's down to 16 (when we had those 4-speed turntables) and learning by ear (no tabs, no videos). Upstate NY wasn't what you'd call a banjo hotbed back then. Played part-time with Frank Wakefield as a teenager and then life happened....kids etc. Banjo took a back seat to other stuff. Played banjo and pedal steel semi-professionally with various bands regionally. Got back with Frank a couple of years ago.
