Oriole Jam 1 is History

Monday, July 02, 2012 @1:03:49 PM

Our first Oriole Jam 1 is complete.  Sherry and I want to thank each and every one of you for coming.  We had such a great time and met so many good people.  Life is so much better when we share it together.  I know it was hot, but we made the best of it and had great fun in spite of it.  There are too many to list, but we want you to know that we appreciate your company and your contribtions to this fine jam session.  Great music, good friends and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

Donnie,
Thank you having me there and for all the work you and Sherry did to put this on. You had signs for it on the highway, many tents and fans for outdoor picking, a cool place with air conditioning for indoor jams, some great BBQ!! and potatoes and green beans. Besides all the work, you went to great expense and everything was first class. You made a great weekend for many people. Don Couchie drove all the way from Canada and I got to hear him and Jim Reed do a lot of fiddle and banjo. You live in the prettiest part of Indiana. I am proud that you would ask me to attend and grateful for all you efforts to do for others.
I hope you can rest and recover and that your wrist gets to 100% soon.

Good to hear Donnie, but in hind sight I am glad I didn't come. With the bad storms that came through also came some crippling damage. We have been without power since Friday evening. Although I wasn't there in the flesh, I was there in spirit. Without power, there's little to do except for fishing and playing the banjo. I was pickin' during the jam you had. Just hundreds of miles away.

Donnie, You and Sherry are the perfect hosts. Mary and I had a great time (even with the temps over 100!!). Youall did allot of work to make sure everybody had a great time. Hope you'll be up to having a 2nd annual Oriole jam next year. It was great to meet all the banjohangout folks that was there. and also your family and friends. Take it easy Buddy.

Thanks Phil, you and Mary are the kind of folks that Sherry and I are drawn to. I would have loved to had you all show up and next year we will just see if we can get together again. Thinking about having the next one in September. What a great time we had together. It was a priceless experience for us.

It sounds like it was a great event Donnie. Do you have photos? We'd love to see them.

I did not get many photos Jane, I stayed very busy making sure everyone had what they needed to enjoy themselves. Lots of music vids posted between Rick Crisman and myself. Check them out on our home pages.
