I have been trying to work out what tuning Jerron paxton is in in this video (linked below) and i just cannot do it.
His finger position doesn't seem to fit with any of the tunings i am use to.
If anyone could help me out that would be incredible because i just love this rendition so much and it would be great to play.
He's tuned down a bit but not exactly sure.

hmmm maybe im being silly and it's just open g tuning down a couple steps. I was thinking he had his fingers on the 3rd and 2 fret of the high strings but he's just playing a C isn't he

I landed on one of his videos called “no more moon shines on Lorena” and was stunned.

He's in standard banjo tuning ("drop C") = gCGBD, but down a fourth to dGDF#A-- precisely the tuning specified in Briggs' book.
