Recently a Dr. friend of mine asked me to sell his Mastertone 5 string banjo. Purchased and never played. Serial number 250-93-68. Would someone please tell me the date this was produced please. Also what is the value? Thanks Mike Hashem

That looks like it would be from 1993 (the 93 in the FON).

If so that makes it from the "Greg Rich Era" and should have some added interest in the marketplace.

Watch the Classifieds here and on line and you'll see mostly asking prices hovering around $3000 (or slightly less). Especially if it's in fine condition, unaltered except for head and bridge, might have Keith D tuners on 2nd and 3rd strings, and has original Gibson hard case.

This was probably Gibson's most produced Mastertone banjo, so they're not rare.

Yes it is a 1993 RB-250, however it is not new old stock. It is a second hand banjo. New old stock would have been bought directly from a dealer.
