I suppose many of you have seen this YouTube clip of the late Reed Martin; it’s been posted for some years. It popped up on my YouTube feed, so I post the link for those who haven’t seen it. Reed Martin’s playing was as good as clawhammer gets. Here he’s playing his resonator Vega Tubaphone. Watch and marvel. Red Wing:

Is that a steel drum in the background?
He was a helluva musician.

I might be once again putting my ignorance on display, and if not ignorance, at least a propensity to be an outlier, but ......... ??

I gather the part after 3:00 is technically more demanding than the preceding part, but I couldn't really hear/recognize Red Wing .... give me the simple/straightforward version every time.

He also gets kudos from me for mentioning, at 6:03ish,  "....they all have musical brains."

[Where did I go wrong?  wink ]
