Pop up ad for the HNREIKSEN BUD 6
Over 100 watts, at 13 pounds.
Since I'm 80, I like the idea of a lightweight amp.

So I clicked on the ad.
Saw the price.
$1,599

For that kind of money, I'll hire a healthy 14-yr-old to lift my current amp, if I ever get too weak.

Anybody know of a decent lightweight amp for just a few hundred?

The TRYLENAIRES rarely play a very big space, anyway.

Instead of a guitar amp, you might be better served to look for a powered speaker. Below is an Amazon link to a 17 lb. JBL powered speaker for $369.  JBL has a pretty good reputation. It appears that it only has two channels, so if you need more than that, you could pair it with a small, light-weight, multi-channel mixer.

I use one of the Yamaha THR30ii amps. Will run off of battery power for about 5 hours. It is lightweight and plenty loud. For gigs I put a mike in front of it.

After trying out several acoustic amps, I landed up with a Bose sp1 pro speaker. It has presets for your instruments, and you can use it to play holiday music during the seasons. It sounds great, fairly lightweight and has a batter that lasts for a long time. Additionaly I use the Bose wireless jack for my guitar( Baggs acoustic electric). The Bose sounded way better than the fishman and another popular amp. Price point about 500 depending on where you buy it.

Go to eBay & search Coolmusic amp. I know people that have 7 of their assorted models & love them.

I like my Vox MV50 Clean (tiny and mighty). I use it as a backup for my fender head. Nice in my case as it runs 50 watts at 4 ohms (which my fender cab is). Takes pedals nice (if you use them). Speaker and line/headphone outs.



Also runs at 25 watts at 8 ohms so you can find a small cab you like.

You can also use it with a powered speaker through the line out. I like the Yamaha DBR10. Pretty light and plenty loud.
