Does anyone know of any jams (bluegrass or old-time) in the Atlanta/North Georgia area that DON’T play gospel tunes?

I don't think I have ever attended a jam that was gender specific as to the songs played, or not played. Mostly jams are for folks who just want to pick and socialize with fellow pickers and are tolerant of all songs and all levels of players, to some extent.

I agree with Bobby.

I used to live in the Atlanta area and I’m not sure you’ll find a jam like that. It would be kind of like like looking for a jam with no cabin songs or no prison songs or no murder ballads. There’s always a mix. If you want a jam like that you’d probably have to start one.

I'm stating the obvious but one's predilection for singing gospel songs usually isn't that strong an indicator of actual religious belief. If you want to play with a more secular crowd (who may still sing gospel songs), go to jams intown.

The old time jams I've been to are mostly instrumental, with not many songs.

Shouldn't be too difficult find  OT jams that meet that criteria.

Depending on what folks consider OT.

A lot are very fiddle tune based, not singing based, esp harmony singing. The occasional singing, tend to be lean more fiddle tune with a few words/lines hear or there. In those, rarely if at all hear much regular songs, ballads; least which gospel.

Thanks. I will focus on finding an old time jam instead of bluegrass.
