I take that very few were built - most likely because nobody wanted to buy an example - I´ve been told that they are not especially good performing - do also have in mind, that at its price of $450 in the mid/late 20s you could get f.ex. a B&D Silver Bell #6 NPU - the ultimate 4-string banjo.

But - at a price of only 2,800 (or less) a collector might be interested - however a restoring to a condition like this custom example may be really costly: banjoworld.de/High125.htm

Also - even after a complete restoring to mint condition its value will most likely be somewhat low - let´s say 4-5K - whereas a #6 NPU as mentioned - also in mint condition - will bring 13-15K.

Actually, I posted the banjo in case our Paramount kinfolk might be interested in recording the serial number of this example  The number did not seem to me to follow the ordinary Paramount sequence.

Just wanted to add my thoughts for what they are worth. I used to own Tenor- Serial Number A119, which was one of the earlier Artist Supremes, and now own Tenor No 314, which is one of the later ones. The only significant difference being the Fancier Resonator Marquetry inlay . I believe they have been referred to as "The Wedding Cake" Banjo for obvious reasons.They were made in the early 30`s, when Banjo sales where starting to decline, and manufacturers were attempting to boost their flagging sales. Wm. L. Lange was a great design innovator. Remember he was,I believe, the first maker to manufacture a 19 Fret Tenor Banjo with Resonator AND Flange !- In 1921 !!

They can`t have been too bad an instrument as Harry Reser AND Mike Pingatore both played them.

A common occurence on Craigslist: "No emails, please. (If there is no immediate answer, please leave a message. ALL calls will be returned.) ".   Either the seller is not interested in selling, or anyone's guess.  Try to find a number to call.
