I was thinking of composing a tune for the season and came up with a melody this week. Decided to go all the way and write some lyrics, which I've never done. I made a clawhammer video which is a shorter version of the MP3 that has guitar and vocal tracks and is fingerpicked. Perry Como wasn't available for the vocals so yule (pun intended) have to endure my singing. Even after 13 years in the grave Perry's voice has to sound better than mine ever will. I'm including a page with the lyrics because with my singing you won't be hearing them clearly in the MP3. Anyway, hope you enjoy and have a good holiday season, whatever you may be celebrating.

Very nice Rick. The clawhammer video reminded me of a mountain dulcimer.

I like it. Nice banjo, nice harmonies! Keep it up!
Addition: I listened to the MP3 before commenting. The OT banjo version on the video is wonderful. Fabulous chords in that, and the final chord floors me!

Thanks Jeff. I've had a lot of comments about the sound of that banjo, form dulcimer to sitar. I guess it's prettty droney (sp?). I'm hoping it sounds like a banjo.![]()
Appreciate the comments Lew and Robert.

Very nice Rick, that tune had a lot of soul. Or perhaps soul is overused - it had a lot of gravity, I liked it.

congrats Rick...
it sounds really sweet and pleasant...
even if I'm not a CH fan I like your song...

Soul or gravity, in some sense we need both, I guess. Thanks Laurence. Kevin and Pietro, thanks for listening and for your nice comments.

Heartfelt melody and words. I liked both the picking and clawhammer version. The picking was really sweet and reminded me of the music from some of the innovative guitarists I've heard from your island.

Thanks a lot Paul. I kind of like the picked version a bit more too; I think the picking just fits into the whole thing with the guitar and vocals better than the clawed version would.

Right from the heart, Rick. Original and touching. In your video I could hear you playing the words.

Thanks John, glad you found it to your liking. Best of the season to you.

Beautiful song Rick and one that carries the true spirit of Christmas I think. Thanks for sharing it.
