There seems to be a regular thing at the Ear. I used to hang out there in the late eighties when it was simply a printing district bar.

For those not in the nyc know, the Ear got it's name from the neon sign, which used to say "Bar" until they painted over the "B" to make it an "E".

G'day ''Eddie'', Don here from Aust., I met you at the Noosa jazz party many years ago, and we had a great time carvin' up a few tunes back then. ''Frank Johnston'' R.I.P. I joined B. H. recently and love it, keepin' in touch with great players like yourself, and makin' new friends ---- it don't get much better. I looked up your site on youtube, and I reckon your lesson videos are a credit to you, you've put a lot of work into them, and good onya for it. All the best mate.

Don, I remember Noosa well. And I remember us playing and Frank singing the old song "Big Chief Battle Axe". I also remember it was my old friend Grahame Bell's 80th birthday. So we know how long it's been since he just passed away a while back. Say hi to all for me. Stan King and I don't get that way now. A bit old I reckon, but "fair dinkum" to all the mates. Eddy "The Manhattan Minstrel"

''Eddie'', I"m glad you've got fond memories of your trip out here, and I'll say G'day to all the musos for ya. Sorry to other B. H. members for getting a bit off the topic. Look after yourself ''Eddie'', and say G'day to ''Stan'' for me. Best Regards, Don.

Hello, Eddy. I met you at a FIGA convention in Baltimore over 20 years ago. You were playing solo on a stage in a park, singing " Let's Be Sweethearts Again" recorded by Beverly Shea, the Broadway Hillbilly. You apologized for not having the lyrics for the bridge, and I wrote them down for you. You play my kind of style, and it was a thrill to hear you. Special moments like that stay with us forever. Best regards.

Greenmeat - Posted - 09/28/2012:  11:54:12

Hey Majesty, tell me more. Just a couple of things of note -- first, the title of the song is: "Say That We're Sweethearts Again" -- Second: the lady who sang it was: Dorothy Shea "The Park Avenue Hillbilly". Aside from that, Thanks so much for the nice words and the reminiscing of the Baltimore convention. Eddy

Thank you Eddy for clearing up my foggy memory. I remember seeing your Ome on Elderly a few years ago, and the only reason I did not buy it was because I already was playing an Ome professionally. Your playing is very  tasteful, and that's how I like to hear the banjo. RE: armrests? Do you find it morecomfortable to play without them? They destroy my shirtsleeves.

Greenmeat - Posted - 10/03/2012:  11:50:07

Hey, as for armrests. I like some form of armrest that is made of anything but metal. I have some that Dale small made for me and Chuck at OME reluctantly made me an ebony one. A fine gentleman here at BHO makes a great armrest that I have been using as of late. I'm not sure if I'm am at liberty to mention him or not? Well. maybe he will jump in here. Eddy
