'49 Willys CJ3A  with a 134 flathead 4 cyl powerhouse.  not much of a hot rod, but it does keep me spending money

This use to be mine, it's my brothers now.

Back in the late sixties, on our way to the Street Rod Nationals, I ran across Hot Rod Magazine writer Tex Smith.  Tex was out on the lawn, layed back playing his five string.  When I told him I was starting banjo, Tex told me "forget finger pickin", learn to frail"

There ya go, Hot Rodder, Banjo Player and Magazine Man... Tex Smith and me, oh and... no writing job for me (as if that wasn't obvious)

Well......all American cars, never got into those furin' cars. Anything from steel 32' Fords to 1st gen Camaros and a whole lot in between. I am absolutely ashamed at the time and money that I have wasted on old cars......it's been a LOT of both and I don't have anything to show for it today except an empty bank account, a few pics and massive frustration for being so stupid to waste my time, money and energy. I have one old 50' Chevy truck left and the only reason that I have it is because it has the last motor that my Dad built for himself before he died.......I have an engine in the garage that is the same way, the last one that he built for me. I keep those as  momentos of my Dad, otherwise I don't want old cars anymore.

I learned how to build up(blueprint) engines in the early 70s,but could never afford to build my own hotrod.

I had a good running '67 289 4v Mustang and a good handling '90 MX-6.

Now I get a lot of pleasure zipping around in our Yaris.Fun to drive and a good handling car.

A buddy of mine bought an all steel '32 Pontiac with the everpresent sbc/automatic/wire wheels from the Owl's Head Transportation Museum auction.

There are some real deals that come out of that auction.

Hard to justify with gas costing so much.

Except for a select few,it seems about everybody loses money when they sell a built up car on Barrett Jackson.

you are right about that, we don't do near as much traveling or just riding around as we used to.     I had an old 78 chev 4x4 short bed with 35 inch tires that ran great and got 8 mpg on a good day. we would fill up both tanks and head for the woods and drive the back roads all day.       I sold the truck and bought a rifle, uses a lot less gas and puts food on the table

Hum, lost the picture in the first post...

I bought this 32 Ford Sedan in the late sixties... I paid $150 for it as a roller (no engine)  It was also missing most of it's interior.  Since then, it's been off the frame and totally rebuilt.  Driveline is; 39 Ford running gear and adapted Chevrolet engine.  It's been driven approximately thirty thousand miles through some fifteen states.
