"Streak of Lean" old time string band performs "The Belles of Blackville" at the Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, Florida. Kerry Blech (guitar), Susan Staton (fiddle), Bob Lanham (banjo).



We first head this from James Bryan/Carl Jones "Two Pictures" CD.  After some research into the origin of this tune, it turns out that folklorist Dr. Samuel Bayard collected it from fiddler William Morris in the 1930's.

I've definitely never heard of this song. Really interesting melody and I definiltey enjoyed it. Looks like a real fun group to play with.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  It's definitely fun being in a trio with with such good musicians, and I'm always learning new tunes from them.
