Hi
I am playing with a ukulele player who wants to play a rumba song.
I have been looking back at pete seeger method of a sloop johnb song which sounds great but he is not wearing picks which might be a bit difficult to pull off
does anyone have any ideas so i can try to put something together
Stephen

With the help of the patterns at banjosessions.com/?p=130 I would suggest something like this for the Rumba clave (twice repeated here):
-M-----M-------M|----M---M------|M-----M-------M|----M---M------|-
-I-----I---I---I|----I---I------|I-----I---I---I|----I---I------|-
-T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|-
----------------|---------------|---------------|---------------|-
----------------|---------------|---------------|---------------|-
Or this (Son clave twice):
-M-----M-----M--|----M---M------|M-----M-----M--|----M---M------|-
-I-----I---I----|----I---I------|I-----I---I----|----I---I------|-
-T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|T---T---T---T--|-
----------------|---------------|---------------|---------------|-
----------------|---------------|---------------|---------------|-
Regular thumb keeps the beat, fingers (especially middle finger) do the syncopation.
Use this pattern on whatever strings.
