I've got a Reiter Round Peak coming to me in a few weeks that I'm very likely going to string up with nylon. I'm guessing that I'm going to need to swap out the bridge when I do, but I'm not sure in what direction I should be heading as far as that goes. I know much of bridge selection has to do with my own ears, but if anyone has any advice to offer or experiences to share, it would be very welcome.

I really like the way my Buckeye Banjo bridge sounds with my Tradesman and Nylgut strings.

That's a great article, Stan. Thank you. It gave me the information that I was looking for.
Aside from Grover, is anyone else making bridges in that style for a 5-string?

That's a very similar design to the Buckeye bridge that Booger likes ...and it's almost completely the opposite direction from where the Hook's article says I should head. However, you're using Nylgut strings and that's different enough from nylon strings to make a difference.

I took an old 5/8 " high bridge with an ebony top and cut the top off with a sharp knife, then smoothed the surface with a nail file and cut grooves with that same nail file. Voila: instant no-tip 1/2" bridge.
