I just heard about the John Hartford Memorial Festival, in Bean Blossom, on June 2-4, 2011. I'm hoping to go. Is anyone else aware of this and planning on going?

First I've heard of it. Looks tempting, though, and not too far from home. If I don't have hay on the ground I may try to make that.

I notice the web site has a link to Bawn in the Mash's song about John Hartford. That's a lively little band from Paducah that actually does several Hartford songs--and Hartfordish songs--besides this one that they wrote about him.

I picked up a flyer for the festival when I was at Bean Blossom back in June. It listed an incredible line-up of artists, but then I read the fine print and saw that only a handful of them had been confirmed. It was really more of a "wish list", evidently. But if they get even half of them to show up, I'll definitely try to be there.

Looks like they've got quite a few confirmed now, at least according to the website:

"We have some great bands confirmed now that I'll list here. Tim O'Brien, Danny Barnes, Larry Keel, Jamie Hartford, Chatham County Line, Missouri Boatride with Dean Webb (a Darlin' boy from the Andy Griffith Show), Rodney Dillard (also a Darlin' boy) and the Dillard Band, Bawn In The Mash, Hillbenders, Midnight From Memphis, Branded Bluegrass, Great American Taxi, Greensky Bluegrass, Dry Valley Gamblers, The Mississippi Sawyers & Rumpke Mountain Boys. Although we have a super lineup already, we aren't stopping."
