mahogany!

DHoffmeyer - Posted - 01/16/2010:  21:04:18

I think this banjo skipped us and went right to the Tsumura collection

17rb100 - Posted - 01/18/2010:  08:02:05

Come on people, stop being so impatient. These parts will be fresh. The wood will need to be at the perfect humidity before cutting. The tone ring has to be cast just right. All good things are worth the wait and I can guarantee this banjo will be worth it. I just sit and think about how much fun the winner will have trying different bridges out on this beauty!

I like the solid, myself.

These days, the only way he could get it is to win it like the rest of us!

Even then, he might have problems paying the tax!

I'm with Dhoffmeyer.

I mean...

Walnut!!

MTBanjo - Posted - 01/25/2010:  06:34:31

It's going to be given away.

bstover - Posted - 01/27/2010:  03:00:27

I know its alittle off topic but i am waiting on there vintage 35 to make its debt. but i will most defintely register everday for this banjo here.

IidaFajida - Posted - 01/28/2010:  07:29:50

That raises a good question. Ive searched around but I dont see any registration. Am I missing something? Or are all Hangout members automatically entered in the drawing?

MTBanjo - Posted - 01/28/2010:  08:53:08

If you read the threads in this section, all will be revealed..............

IidaFajida - Posted - 01/28/2010:  09:04:17

I read all of "An introduction to this project" which you linked to and still didn't see anything about the giveaway or registration. Or do you mean "read all the threads of the entire collaboration and all will be revealed?". Guess I'll just keep reading. Thanks again.

MTBanjo - Posted - 01/28/2010:  11:33:06

Our goal here is to let members discuss and vote the parts/construction of a 5-string bluegrass banjo. Once everything has been nailed down, the folks at FQMS will build the banjo, and we'll give it away on the Banjo Hangout. How cool is that?

I know that's not much info...

I think that when the project first started, there was a lot of talk about how the "giveaway" would happen. Must have been in another section of the site, though...

Either way, nothing will happen until it's done, and when it's done, I'm sure they'll make it very obvious how to enter the drawing. Seems like progress has stalled out lately...

IidaFajida - Posted - 01/28/2010:  12:04:43

So I was reading it but not understanding!!! Thank you for clearing that up. I remember the discussions about the giveaway but never heard of anything official. Now I know why. Thanks again for the help

Gotta go with the outline.
Sans the norm,
great job.

Lostranger - Posted - 02/13/2010:  10:27:11

I'm coming late to this First Quality/BHO build project, but I've watched about 10 clips on youtube. I assumed it was over, but apparently not. Where is the project at this time, and are any other videos of the actual construction available. TIA

I like the outline pattern if its not too late to vote.

solid for sure.

Catching Second - Posted - 02/18/2010:  05:33:11

So... uh... is this banjo ever going to get done?

MTBanjo - Posted - 02/18/2010:  06:27:47

Clearly it's stalled out and Travis isn't paying attention to this thread (although with all the people continuing to vote long after the voting is over it's not wonder). I would really like to know what's going on...

Walnut! I mean solid! I mean...never mind

NYCJazz - Posted - 02/18/2010:  20:40:47

When I win this banjo, I'm going to "convert" it to plectrum, just to give it that ultimate "prewar" touch.

I swear I'll keep the 5-string neck, so it can be returned to original if needed!

OSusanna - Posted - 02/24/2010:  08:55:00

The outline pattern is very distinctive! Musch more original in style than the more commonly utilized solid pattern. I vote for the outline.

Keltic Cherokee - Posted - 03/01/2010:  04:12:40

I vote for the outline form as shown on the right side in the Picture

gwhite - Posted - 03/03/2010:  15:53:28

I was at FQM today and talked to Jeff and the banjo is under construction.
What a neat place

Aaron Thomas - Posted - 03/09/2010:  12:19:35

Can you post some pictures of the construction process?

MTBanjo - Posted - 03/09/2010:  14:50:47

Really...just look through this part of the forum, folks. The inlay survey is looooong since over, and the link to the construction photos are posted.
